Campbell River Minor Hockey Association proudly offers the Female Hurricanes Program — a welcoming and skill-building environment where girls aged 5-18 can thrive on and off the ice.

🌟 Program Highlights:

  • All-Girls Teams from U7 to U18 (ages 5-18)
  • One practice per week, plus games and tournaments
  • Optional co-ed participation (dual registration available)
  • Season runs from September to March
  • Friendly, supportive coaches with a focus on fun and skill development
  • Opportunities to travel for tournaments and make lifelong friends

🧡 Why Female Hockey?

Female hockey is one of the fastest-growing sports in Canada, and for good reason:

  • Girls build confidence, teamwork, and resilience
  • Many players feel more comfortable learning and competing in female-only environments
  • Lifelong friendships form through shared experiences and travel
  • Female hockey opens doors to scholarships, provincial teams, and leadership roles

👨?👩?👧 Parent Tips: Supporting Your Female Player

  1. Encourage, Don’t Pressure: Let your daughter enjoy the game at her own pace. Support effort over outcome.
  2. Gear Up Right: A well-fitting helmet, skates, and protective gear are essential.
  3. Get Involved: Volunteer as a team manager, fundraiser, or just cheer in the stands. Community makes the season better for everyone!
  4. Know the Pathways: Female hockey offers long-term opportunities — from high school and college play to Team BC and beyond.
  5. Ask Questions: Whether you’re new to hockey or new to the area, the CRMHA team is happy to guide you.

📌 Registration Options:

  1. Female Hurricanes Only
  2. Co-Ed House League Only
  3. Dual Registration (both programs)

We encourage families to choose the path that best fits your child's confidence and comfort level.
